Itinerary:

Day 1 – Home to Hobart 

This morning you will be collected from your home and transferred to Ballina Airport for the flight to Hobart via Sydney. Once arrived we will make our way to our accommodation for the night.

Overnight Stay at Travelodge Hotel Hobart Airport or similar.

Day 2 – Hobart to Strahan 

After an early breakfast, head to the lush rainforest of Mt Field National Park, Tasmania’s oldest National Park, and the location of the spectacular three-tiered Russell Falls (Approximately 83kms).

Stop at The Wall in the Wilderness to marvel at the creation. It is Australia’s most ambitious art project undertaken in recent years. By 2015 creator/designer, Greg Duncan plans to carve the history of the highlands in 100 metres of timber, most of which is the rare Huon Pine. The beautifully carved works set out in relief sculpture depict the history, hardship and perseverance of the people in the Central Highlands and pay homage to the individuals who settled and protected the area. (approximately 131 kms).

We make a short detour to marvel at the beautiful Lake St Clair before travelling to Queenstown where we stop to look at the historical railway station, before arriving in the picturesque village of Strahan. (approximately 132kms)

Day 3 – Gordon River Cruise 

Enjoy an engaging cruise down the historical, intriguing Gordon River. Learn about Australia’s convict history – old ruins & fascinating stories. Visit Sarah Island, a small 18th-century British colonial outpost. Pass through Hell’s Gates, and Macquarie Harbour’s entrance. See Tasmania’s rugged mountains & lush forest surroundings to give you a unique perspective on the natural wilderness and the amazing west coast. Enjoy a gourmet lunch of local Tasmanian delicacies.

    Cruise quietly in World Heritage wilderness aboard Spirit of the Wild, with her electric motors. The tranquility of this experience has to be experienced to be believed. Hear the stories of the river from our dedicated guides and step ashore at Heritage Landing for an interpretive tour of the ancient rain forest. On returning to your vessel, enjoy a Chef-prepared lunch on the river as you cruise for Sarah Island.

Overnight Strahan: Strahan Village or similar

Day 4 – Cradle Mountain 

Depart Strahan for magnificent Cradle Mountain (approximately 151 kms). Keep your fingers crossed for clear skies this morning to be treated to magnificent views of Cradle Mountain and breathtaking reflections on Dove Lake. Visit the visitor centre for an appreciation of the park and spot some wombats, potoroos and wallabies along the way. Stroll along the Enchanted Forest Walk and marvel at the lush green forest and the gorgeous Pencil Pine Falls. Take in the stunning view of the park reigning over picturesque Dove Lake.

We then continue travelling to Burnie approximately 114 kms). Tonight we have dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5 – Stanley 

This morning we head to Stanley (approximately 78kms) to visit the Highfield Historic Site, perched overlooking Stanley and The Nut on a windy promontory in North-West Tasmania representing a stunning example of early colonial architecture from the Regency Period (1811-1820). From the large French windows of the homestead, visitors are treated to dramatic views of the rugged coastline and Bass Strait beyond. You can walk through the old homestead , outbuildings and surrounding gardens and immerse yourself in the history of this significant property so intrinsically linked to the development of the Circular Head community.

We take The Nut chairlift which traverses a distance of 250 meters, rising 95 meters and is a leisurely five minute ride to the top of The Nut where you can explore the plateau, soak up the incredible views and take advantage of the superb photographic opportunities.

Next stop today is lunch in a local restaurant in Stanley.

We head back to Burnie to visit The Hellyers Road Distillery (78 kms) for a behind the scenes and tour of this working distillery to see how they make one of the finest single malt whiskies in the world. Smell the ingredients, see the latest batch distilling, visit the bond store filled with American oak barrels and understand everything there is to know about the range of products and Henry Hellyer himself – the man behind the name.

Day 6 – Launceston 

After breakfast we head via Devonport (46kms) for a quick peek and then on to Sheffield (26kms), Tasmania ’s Town of Murals. It features more than 100 huge paintings on the walls of buildings, created by local artists which depict local history and characters. We will stop so you can have a walk through these and maybe grab a cuppa at one of the wonderful tearooms here (own cost).

We continue to Seahorse World (approximately 82kms) for lunch followed by a tour.

We commence our tour in The Cave which is home to a selection of seahorses and sea dragons. Here you will learn a bit about seahorses and their mysterious behaviour.

We then move into The Farm which is where you get an exclusive “behind the scenes” look at the world’s first working seahorse farm. This is where we feed the fish and you can see seahorses in all stages of life from tiny fingernail size babies to larger adults going about their day.

Our final room is The Southern Ocean Aquarium where we have a showcase of some of the bizarre and mystical creatures found in Tasmanian waters. In this room you’ll also have the opportunity to get hands on and touch some of the creatures from the deep as well as hold a seahorse in the palm of your hand. Get your cameras ready!

We continue to Launceston (approximately 48kms). We will have a quick visit to the Cataract Gorge in the leafy heart of Launnie – a spectacular natural canyon that’s been a sacred meeting place for Tasmanian Aboriginal communities for tens of thousands of years.

Day 7 – Launceston 

Today after breakfast we travel through the Tamar Valley Wine Route with some vineyards to Beaconsfield (approximately 42kms) with its rich mining history. The Grubb Shaft Gold and Heritage Museum shows the workings of the old mine with a private tour.

On the return we stop at a small and family-owned winery, Moores Hill Winery where we will have a wine tasting of 4 wines. We will then have lunch on the deck including Tasmanian cheeses, a charcuterie board, natural oysters, seafood platters and for those not into things from the ocean, BBQ rotisserie chicken! We then return to Launceston.

Day 8 – Wineglass Bya Cruise 

We depart Launceston very early ready for an action-packed day out exploring Wineglass Bay, Freycinet National Park (approximately 175kms). We board our Wineglass Bay Cruise from Coles Bay for a 4½ hour cruise of the waterways surrounding Freycinet National Park from Coles Bay to Wineglass Bay on Tasmania’s East Coast. Be enthralled by the stunning granite coastline, including the dramatic pink peaks of the Hazards range. Discover a coast dotted with sparkling white sand beaches, including Cooks and Bryans beaches, only accessible by water or a full day bushwalk. Explore the inner passage of remote Schouten Island, home to little penguins and short tailed shearwaters, before heading into the Tasman Sea towards Wineglass Bay. Look out for various hidden sea caves, blowholes and waterfalls amongst the sheer granite cliffs. Take in the sheer beauty of Wineglass Bay from the rarely seen perspective of the water, a shimmering crescent of white sand fringes spilling into glass turquoise waters.

Day 9 – Hobart 

Today we head to East Coast NatureWorld for a private guided tour and to see the Tassie Devil up close! We then drive to Richmond, rich in history and architecture, with more than 50 historic buildings, mostly from the 1820s. This is a wonderful town to explore to learn about Tasmania’s past while enjoying visits to galleries, museums, cafes, and historical landmarks, Australia’s oldest intact jail (1825) and Australia’s oldest remaining Catholic church, St. John’s, built in 1836.

We then head back to Hobart where the rest of the day is at leisure until we meet for our Hobart Historic Cruise dinner.

Day 10 – Port Arthur 

This morning we set off to explore the famous Salamanca Market, consisting of around 80 stallholders representing artisans, designers and producers – it’s as Tasmanian as it can be. After spending time at the market we will head to Port Arthur to explore the World Heritage listed Port Arthur Historic Site, Australia’s most intact and evocative convict site with more than 30 buildings, ruins and restored period homes, dating from the prison’s establishment in 1830 until its closure in 1877. The tour includes a cruise to the Isle of the Dead for a fascinating insight into the lives and deaths of Port Arthur’s past residents, both convicts and free settlers. Return to Hobart.

Day 11 – Bruny Island 

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS TOUR DOES INCLUDE AN APPROXIMATE WALK OF 20 MINUTES (1 KILOMETRE) TO & FROM THE HOTEL TO THE STARTING POINT OF THE TOUR.

Our local guide will meet us at our Hobart office as we check in for the full day tour of Bruny Island, including sightseeing, three hour wilderness cruise, morning tea and lunch.

Tour Cost: Total tour cost reflected in this brochure is per person twin share. Single Supplement applies.

(All costs are subject to change until your tour has been paid in full.)

Deposit: A non-refundable deposit per person is required within 7 days of confirmation of your reservation.

Final payment: The final payment, plus single supplement (if applicable) must be received 75 days prior to departure or as advised at the time of the booking.

Payment methods: Payment can be made by cash, cheque, direct deposit and credit card. Credit Cards incur a 1.0% surcharge above the tour cost. The following credit cards are accepted: Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Please note no foreign credit cards can be accepted for payment.

Cancellations: In the event of cancellation, you agree to pay the cancellation fees listed on the Casino Travel Shoppe Schedule of Service Items and Fees. In addition, you agree to be liable for all supplier cancellation fees.

Travel insurance is compulsory and provides protection against most legitimate reasons for cancellation. Your deposit is non refundable. Once you have made the final payment, the full payment is non-refundable. The client is responsible for cancellation fees immediately confirmation of arrangements is conveyed verbally or in writing to you as the client.

Refunds: Once the departure is reached, cancellations for unused services/vouchers are not refundable. Refunds cannot be authorised by service providers.

Amendment Fees: Once tour reservations are confirmed changes will attract a minimum fee of $330 per client file, plus fees applied by airlines and other service providers.

Late bookings: Bookings made within 25 days of departure may require an additional fee. Details of the fee if applied will be advised at the time of requesting your reservation. Additional airfare costs may also be necessary and will also be passed on at the time of your booking request.

Late payment: In some instances suppliers impose a late payment fee, should the late payment be due to the failure of the client to pay by the due date this fee may be passed on as an additional amount payable above the tour cost advertised.

Document reissue: A fee of $330 dollars will apply to reissue and dispatch of documents

Departure date: The departure date is the date selected for this tour. The tour will be operated by a Supplier/s commencing on the date stipulated in the itinerary and the Casino Travel Shoppe group will form part of the overall Supplier departure for this tour. Should this tour date change, clients will be offered alternate departure dates. Where a client is affected by a departure date change, then the client’s consent as to alternatives will be sought.

Prices: All prices and amounts quoted are current at the time of publication. Airfares, taxes, fuel surcharges, and currency fluctuations as well as land content costs from suppliers can change at any time and are beyond our control and the control of suppliers of product offered. Any changes in price affecting the client will be advised immediately they become known. Regrettably in some instances the change is not advised in time to protect the client from additional cost for the tour.

Not included: Charges for excess luggage, personal services, gratuities (unless stated in the departure itinerary), laundry, drinks, meals except as specified, pre travel documentation unless stated in the departure itinerary), personal accident and medical expenses including all communication charges incurred on the passengers behalf

Tour operator’s responsibility: The supplier/s and its/their associated companies or agents act in the capacity as agent for the suppliers of transportation and tour operation services. Seasonal variation in airline, transport and accommodation services may necessitate minor variations to itineraries and hotel standards. Any variation inconsistent with the applicable tour described in this brochure or the Supplier’s brochure/website will be discussed and agreed with the client

Quotations for tours are subject to tariff and exchange rate variations and may differ from prices quoted in this brochure and that of the Supplier.

The Supplier/s and other eligible parties shall not be responsible for any injury, damage, accident, loss, and delay in respect of any person or property. In this clause “eligible parties” shall include any carrier, tour operator or other provider of any service in respect of a tour and for the purpose of conferring the benefit of this clause upon eligible parties. The exclusion of liability contained in this clause shall be subject to all statutory warranties. These conditions of booking shall form part of the contract between the client and the Supplier/s. Where a carrier notifies conditions of carriage on any ticket, coupon or brochure, then the client shall be bound by those conditions.

Cancellation: The Supplier/s reserves the right to cancel or withdraw at any time any booking made for any client and in such an event the Supplier/s shall be under no liability in respect of any loss or damage to a client provided that the client shall be entitled to a full refund in respect of any monies paid.

Holiday costs: Tour costs are a gross amount including all services stipulated and itinerary planning, currency transfers, booking procedures and communication costs. Unless agreed by the Supplier/s, no itemised costing will be provided

Conditions of booking: By instructing Casino Travel Shoppe or the Supplier/s directly, either verbally or in writing to proceed with Reservations on your behalf, you, the client shall be taken to have accepted these conditions of booking as binding.

Fully Escorted Conditions**
A member of the Casino Travel Shoppe staff will accompany this tour as long as a minimum of 20 passengers are booked on this tour. Should the required numbers not be reached the tour will operate as normal with national and local guides. All items mentioned in the itinerary will be provided however you will complete the international flights unaccompanied. All transfers will be provided within Australia and at your destination.
